Most internet users today prefer Google’s browser called Google Chrome. This is easily explained by its ease of use and the speed of the browser itself.

While the browser is undoubtedly a great user experience, there is never a limit to perfection. You can use extensions to simplify things and increase the list of features.

Fortunately, hundreds, and even thousands, of unique extensions are developed each year to make surfing the internet a comfortable experience. We suggest you learn about the most useful ones that will serve everyone.

Adblock Plus

Due to the increasing number of advertisements on the web, this extension is in particular demand. Adblock Plus is one of the best ways to hide unwanted ad banners and pop-ups, as well as to reduce the number of adverts in video players on the web.

By installing this extension, users can forget about the problem of pages flooded with ads forever. In addition, the absence of multiple ads and pop-ups significantly speeds up the loading of web pages.

By installing Adblock Plus, users can also make their own ad blocking settings by making white-lists and blacklists.

Another useful feature of this extension is cookie protection. Adblock Plus is currently a free browser add-on.

Lightshot

In correspondence, it is easier to show rather than tell. Often screenshots are used for this purpose. But the standard Windows function to take and save a screenshot requires too many actions. This is where the Lightshot extension comes in.

Using this extension can not only simplify the process. Lightshot makes it possible:

  • to select an area instead of taking a screenshot of the whole screen;
  • the ability to edit the screenshot directly in the browser.

There are several ways to send a photo to the recipient. The easiest way is to send a link to the screenshot you have taken, including via the internal service prntscrn.com. It is also possible to send via social media or upload the screenshot to Google’s reverse image search.

Grammarly

This extension is a magic wand for users who constantly correspond in English. Grammarly reveals mistakes made when writing in English.

The extension not only finds typos. The service distinguishes between formal speech and normal conversation flow, points out the tone of the text and suggests how to improve it. Grammarly is a great way to check spelling, grammar and punctuation. But that’s not all! The extension will help check the logical chain of the text and its sound, thanks to the smart dictionary that’s built in.

The program is very easy to understand – a red grammar icon means that there is an error in the text. To find out the correct variant, right-click on the highlighted word and the correct variant will appear.

Checker Plus for Gmail

If you use email a lot at work, this extension lets you keep your finger on the pulse. Checker Plus for Gmail gives you full access to your emails without even having to log in to your inbox.

Thanks to the extension, you’ll know about received emails immediately, even if your browser is closed. When you receive notification of an email, you can open, read, and even delete it right away without logging into Gmail. Use Checker Plus for Gmail to switch between accounts, if you need to.

LastPass

With this extension you can forget about constantly recovering passwords for different websites. LastPass will save all your passwords in one place, in an encrypted vault. Using the extension the user only needs to remember one password: the “masterpass” of the encrypted storage.

By the way, this application will also help reduce the agony of choosing a password for new websites. There is a built-in strong password generator inside the extension. With it, for sites with very elaborate password requirements, you won’t have to agonize, just press a few keys and a unique code is ready.

Todoist

Desktop planners have long been out of trend, but keeping everything in your head isn’t possible either. A virtual task manager that works not only on PCs but also on mobile devices has been developed for this purpose.

Todoist puts your task list right in your Google Chrome control panel. And from there, the user can check the to-do list for the day, set a new task, or make adjustments (including terminating it).

To make sure you don’t forget anything and miss any important appointments, the extension has a built-in notification system. In addition to the basic features Todoist for Google Chrome offers a number of extras, but subject to the purchase of premium access.

Outcome

The number of extensions that can make surfing the web easier and simplify workflows is much longer and also depends on the needs of users. In our article, we’ve listed the most popular extensions for Chrome that will be useful to absolutely everyone. Using these developments, you can significantly optimize your browsing experience.

Auxiliary plug-ins for Google Chrome allow you to do a number of extra things directly in the browser without using additional programs. These extensions allow you to check spelling and grammar, take dictation, generate and save passwords, take screenshots of a specific area of your screen and make graphical changes to your screenshot, and a host of other useful options.

As well as simplifying workflows and some mundane tasks, browser extensions can help you combat problems such as gaming addiction. Various extensions can be found in the official Chrome Web Store to block gaming sites. With them, players can avoid unscrupulous casinos and favour only trusted online casinos that do not use GamStop. And if necessary, you can block them all.

There are many useful extensions in the Google Chrome shop. We will present the top 5 that we have tested and are most effective for those trying to avoid gambling sites. The options we offer include plugins with different functions, so that users can choose the one that best suits their needs.

Gambling Blocker

The Gambling Blocker is a great option for getting rid of the compulsive urge to spin slots or bet on sports. This plugin is already targeted and works on the following principle: there is a single database gambling websites of Great Britain, access to which will be blocked if the extension is activated.

If you try to access a gambling site, the Gambling Blocker will block your ability to view the page and interact with any games or bets on the site. This extension works as a system-wide application to block access to gambling sites. But unlike apps, the user does not have to go through a lengthy installation and configuration process. All you have to do is install the extension in your browser and continue surfing the internet.

CasinoAnalyzer Blocker

This extension provides the option of using an already-built list of banned sites, which also includes a list of porn sites. The user can modify this list as they see fit, adding and removing sites from it.

In order to make adjustments to the list you must enter a secret password. This is set during installation of the extension and only applies when changes are made to the blacklists or when trying to access sites on the list. The process of adding a domain to the list is as simple as possible – just click on the extension icon and select “Block this domain” in the window that opens.

Simple Blocker

A simple option for blocking unwanted websites can be the Simple Blocker extension. This option is used not only by GamStop users but also by other internet users.

The main benefit is blocking distracting or annoying websites that interfere with your work. The plugin allows you to block an entire website or its individual subdomains.

In addition to the above function, this plugin allows you to adjust the blocking period for the specified sites. Thus, you can set a sleep timer that will block the site for the time you are working and open access to the specified site after the set time.

Simple Blocker is liked by users for its ease of use and concise feature set.

BlockSite

This extension is one of the most frequently installed extensions among users around the world. BlockSite will allow you to block all ‘mainstream’ sites in the 18+ category with a single click. You can also block individual URLs manually or even selectively block specific words.

Users often choose BlockSite for its ability to sync the Android app with the PC version of the extension.

This simple and feature-rich extension will allow you to work without being distracted by third-party sites and avoid unnecessary spending on gambling sites.

Stop-it

Stop-it is an excellent blocker of unwanted content on the internet. It is used both by casino players to protect themselves from numerous temptations and as a parental control.

It blocks all kinds of adult websites, from casinos and sportsbooks to webcam sites and spyware. Users don’t have to worry about their data. The extension doesn’t share data with third parties and deletes users’ histories every time the browser is closed.

Finally

To summarise all the above information, we can safely say that browser extensions are an extremely important auxiliary resource in the fight against gambling addiction. Each player who intends to give up gambling can choose one of the above plug-ins. This step is sure to contribute to a quicker weaning off of gambling.

What will happen if social media and software stops working tomorrow in Russia? It’s an unanswered question. Even though AI (artificial intelligence) will have an impact on some industries, these new ways of working may be more time-efficient than the current ways that marketers, PR specialists, smm specialists and other professionals are accustomed to. They will also provide a more diverse experience for users since they’re predicting past data to help focus their current efforts.

It is essential to find and test new alternatives for services in the market, in this time of instability. Some AI writers are already known and tested, others are only gaining popularity because of their efficiency. Employees may not be able to use commercial websites or bank services when these companies are affected by an emergency. It is common for businesses to provide alternatives, such as cryptocurrency wallets and alternative banking networks.

There are many benefits to using Russian software, but the main problem with it is that it forces you to make compromises in your communication.

Many more companies are turning to Russian software and even foreign ones for many reasons. It’s not safe for them to stay in the Russian market, and why should they? Our software is amazing and a lot of other options exist that compare or surpass it in quality. SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, Autodesk, and many other software vendors have already suspended their activities in Russia and Belarus.

It’s easy to find good software alternatives to any foreign IT solutions. We can help you choose the best high-quality and functional counterparts that Russia has to offer.

There are people who work in various professions that have been trained in unique skillsets. Let’s start with the selection of substitutes for individually used PC programs that are necessary for the work of these professionals. We tried to cover the widest possible range of domestic or open-source equivalents.

Letting go of outdated server software and changing to new ones is too arduous. After all, the worst thing that could happen is the loss of any functions and reduced performance for those using it. When working with foreign or sanctioned servers and software, it is always important to make sure you have a backup plan and know the functionalities of your company’s current system. In case something goes wrong, you’re guaranteed to have a problem-free update in place before undergoing any major renovations.

Many collaborative communication tools have arisen. These such as Yammer, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Trello address issues like more convenient working group communications and tasks. CRM-systems are used to make customers feel welcome, while corporate portals help the company push out knowledge and build a better internal culture.

Russian companies increasingly look towards Chinese and Latvian substitutes for high-tech equipment. With this in mind, it’s important to be careful when choosing one that is right for your business.

Cloud systems are all the rage these days and can vary in their reliability. Most people use them to transfer data, and one may experience a data leak if an order is placed (in particular if the company headquarters are in Russia). That’s why we recommend that you keep your remote infrastructure at home

We develop secure office solutions for communication and collaboration with documents in the cloud, on mobile devices, and on all popular operating systems in desktop applications. Our company provides cutting-edge technological services with seamless customer service. You can create and edit text, work with presentations and e-mail on the web at “MyOffice”. Or alternatively, you can use their desktop software application.

At the time of our analysis, some of the formats and csv in tables could not be opened. We also highlight that among the advantages are the convenient format of work, regular updates and fast speed.

“Yandex Documents” is an analog of Google Docs and Word with a few differences that make it very useful. The release of this program was in April 2021, and we tried it out. At first glance, there weren’t too many differences between the service & its counterparts’s features. It’s fast and easy to use! The service works both on the web version and on mobile. There are active links, for access it is not necessary to have a Yandex mail. From the inconvenient: some familiar features are missing, for example, access to a document by several users, it would be helpful if there were more choices in USB ports. Moving to the new site was not extremely difficult, and we were able to get all of our documents transferred for free.

In the past year, many users have been coming to their favorite app: Telegram. Now, not only can you send text messages, but you can also create chats and channels and create groups. You could easily hold meetings with TG by allowing easy editing of the themes and adding different offers to the customer’s cart. You pay for this messenger service only if you want to, so there is no risk involved.

If you are an author and want to sell your work on this resource, then you will need to conclude a written agreement for the transfer of use rights in accordance with Russian standards. The photo base is a lot smaller than its foreign analogue, but its features are comparable and it does not fail at common tasks.

Mail is one of the oldest domestic browsers. Many have been working on the interface to make it more friendly and modern. However, there are many notable features that work flawlessly fine for its users.

Russian and foreign analogues are available to us, and so it’s not necessary or advisable to panic. Yes, it will be a lot of work and some services will have to be ditched to use the services in their latest version.

It’s important to look into the use of AI-created platforms for different industries, as well as giving feedback about them. Often times these platforms will have their own unique interface, which is a good opportunity for developers to try something new and expanded standard features. We’re confident that after a lot of growth in users, some services will change for the better from the feedback and user experience that’s been gained.

1C:EDT is not a one-size-fits-all software that has every function preloaded. Instead, you are able to customize settings as needed on an individual basis

If you are an advanced developer, you can take advantage of the powerful EDT by adding something that will speed up its work or by modifying the development environment for yourself.

There are many plugins available for Evernote that allow you to customize it. One plugin is ENRAP which is focused on providing strong cybersecurity.

1C is a software company that makes many popular plug-in providers. They are also the community of developers who make these plug-in offerings. So, if one of their products is lacking certain features, they don’t wait for someone else to provide them; they write them themselves. There are many reasons to shop at Eclipse. Not only is it the IDE of choice for developers, but it also has its own online store with some plugins that are very popular among indies.

One of the features of 1C:Enterprise 8 is its support for plug-ins, such as translating software interface to a different language. This can be a process that takes quite some time, but it will save you plenty of trouble later on. The system needs to support multiple languages, and his assistance will be invaluable if so. Now programmers only have to write NSstr for interface items being translated and need not worry about setting multilingual titles for anything.

The plugin makes it easier to work with BSP-based configurations. When using it, EDT gives context hints, makes substitutions when calling functions of the BSP itself, etc. This is helpful for novice developers and older 1C developers since the BSP system is often updated. When this happens, it’s not always possible to keep up with the last few versions of the BSP system.

Another plugin. Sometimes standards change and there is no time to remember everything. Don’t worry if you don’t know everything about development processes. Just make sure you learn from this mistake, and keep up to date as the market changes so that you can adapt to them easily. Imagine that two people are working on the same code. The first puts a space after the comma, while the second does not. One creates objects with a prefix, and the other without. As a result, they end up with heterogeneous code that is difficult to read or audibly separate into coherent sentences. It is important to standardize development, so it can be done more easily. The vendor helped us with this by sharing its development standards. Companies should make sure they know what these are, as they are available on their website. However, the standards weren’t very realistic in our case, we had a lot of trouble following them as well! One thing you can do is get a 1C compliance plugin for your website. This will allow you to make your own modifications, prioritize checks, and even disable those that are not needed. Now this plug-in is developing especially quickly and is acquiring interesting mechanisms. In particular, it has the ability to control strict typing in Microsoft Word.

1C is a popular software company and has few plugins, but they cover most needs. There is also a big community where people can take care of plugins that are not warrantied by the company themselves. But to keep track of new products, it’s easy to register on GitHub and then select a subscription level. You’ll receive notifications through email every time there’s something in this repository that interests you.

As you may know, the 1C:EDT editor doesn’t have an “Supply Configurations” mechanism where you can specify which modules can be changed or not. This makes it difficult when switching between 1C:EDT and IDA. You may want to try out the Edit Prohibition plugin. It provides a smooth transition between these two programs. I would not go into detail as I am deviating from the topic. But sometimes it’s necessary to block some elements in a different document type called an EDT, like this. For these purposes, you can use the Edit With Prohibition plugin. You can block both the general module and the entire object. There is also a setting when an object is locked, a unique feature of this plugin: blocked objects can’t be modified in any way. However, unlike the standard blocking by vendor configuration, there is no option to unblock an object with this plugin. With this, your product selection is not limited and you can focus on the values of your project.

A useful plugin has been developed so you can instantly align & make changes to content from cf without going through a database. Of course, you need to understand that temporary file bases are created “from below”, which are then deleted, so you must have licenses for the 1C file version. However, if you don’t have a license and/or choose a custom time base, you can specify the conversion will only take place through SQL. It should be noted that the plugin was made when EDT could not set up a configuration from a database yet. I was having trouble loading the database update from the configurator, but now it’s possible with the new release of EnergyTeam starting in version 2021.

As is the case with any discussion of PHP, there are many different plugins you can use to improve your development. While an article about all those plugins would take far too long, it’s worth mentioning that some of them allow you to deal with unit testing without departing from the EDT or deal with some particular situations.

This plugin allows you to edit multiple files at the same time, eliminating any need for opening them separately in other editors. The plugin allows you to open a document of a different format in MS Office and make a more or less sane colorization of the syntax of this document. The feature can even handle highlighting in many languages.

There are many interesting plugins for 1C:EDT that make your work easier, more efficient and faster. However, in order to use them, you first need to switch to the very latest version of the program.

Safari extensions let you optimize and customize the way you use websites on your Mac.

Safari extensions are new features for the browser that make surfing the web as seamless as possible for you. Extensions include features to display useful information about web pages and news headlines, help you use your favorite services, change the look and feel of websites, and more. Extensions are a great way to personalize your web browser.

The App Store makes it easy to download and install Safari extensions. All extensions in the App Store are vetted, signed and submitted by Apple to make sure they’re safe.

Extension installation

Start by installing the latest macOS updates to work with an updated version of Safari. Safari 12 or later is required to download and install Safari extensions from the App Store.

Find and install an extension:

  • Open the Safari browser and select Safari > Safari Extensions from the menu.
  • The “Safari Extensions” page will open the App Store as shown above. To download and install the extension, click “Get” or click on the price. You may need to sign in with your Apple ID.
  • Click the “Install” button.
  • Once the extension is installed, click “Open” and follow the on-screen instructions of the extension.

Then return to the Safari browser to enable the installed extensions:

  • Choose Safari > Settings.
  • Click Extensions.
  • Check the box next to the name of the extension.

Any extensions you install from the App Store will update automatically.

Uninstall or remove extensions

Click Safari > Settings, and then click the Extensions tab.

To disable extensions, uncheck the checkbox.
To remove an extension, select the extension you want and then click the “Remove” button. If you don’t know what an extension is for, or don’t plan to use it in the future, it is recommended that you uninstall the extension.

Other information

Safari no longer supports most web plug-ins. To help speed up web page loading, save battery life, and improve security, Safari is optimized to handle content using the HTML5 web standard, which does not require plug-ins. Use Safari extensions instead of web plug-ins to optimize and customize your web experience.

The malicious Ldi extension has now been removed from the Chrome Web Store.

As the Chrome browser grows in popularity, the number of malicious extensions for it is also growing. Attackers use “clones” of popular plugins to deliver ads, malicious extensions to spoof search queries, or embed a Coinhive cryptocurrency miner in the browser.

IS expert Lawrence Abrams discovered the Ldi plugin, which takes malicious extension activity to the next level. Ldi not only installs the Coinhive miner in the browser, but also uses the victim’s Gmail account to register free domains using the Freenom service.

The extension was distributed via sites with JavaScript notifications urging the user to install the plugin. When the user tried to close the notification, the Ldi page in the Chrome Web Store was automatically opened. The product description was uninformative. “Don’t know if your homepage is compatible with your Mac? Find out with Ldi,” the description of the plugin read. The malicious extension has now been removed from the Chrome Web Store.

The Pirate Bay and Showtime websites were among the first to be caught using Coinhive. A total of 220 sites are secretly mining cryptocurrencies.

Apple, Mozilla, Google, and Microsoft standardize extensions https://slidesjs.com/apple-mozilla-google-and-microsoft-standardize-extensions/ Mon, 18 Oct 2021 09:50:00 +0000 https://www.devsnews.com/wp/techbuzz/?p=70 With the release of macOS Big Sur, Safari started using a new extensions API that allows you to use plugins created for other browsers. With the release of macOS Big Sur, Safari started using a new extensions API that allows you to use plugins created for other browsers. Now we know that developers from Apple, Mozilla, Google, and Microsoft have decided to go a step further, joining forces to standardize the methodology for extension development. Plugin developers will also be able to participate in this initiative.
Representatives from all major browser developers are reportedly participating in the standardization of extensions, and the group, called the WebExtensions Community Group (WECG), will be led by Timothy Hatcher from Apple and Simeon Vincent from Google. Together, they will try to solve several basic problems.
First of all, we are talking about simplifying the development process of extensions by creating a coherent model and a common core, functionality, APIs and permissions. It is also planned to create a description of the architecture; the use of which will improve the performance of created solutions, as well as make them more secure.
At the same time, the project participants do not intend to specify every aspect of extensions development or stifle innovation. Each browser developer will continue to work independently according to their own rules and policies. Extension and browser developers interested in participating in this project can join by submitting an application on the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) website. WECG members have created a separate repository on GitHub, which will be used for future work. It also contains rules and regulations for the new developer community.

Google has added new security features to the Chrome browser. They’re here to make it easier to detect questionable downloads and extensions. These features build on the browser’s Advanced Secure Browsing feature, which was available last year and helps identify phishing sites.
The browser will now display a notification when extensions are installed; if a user-selected addon is not considered trustworthy. Only software released by developers who comply with Google Developer Program rules; and have been on the platform for at least several months will be included in the list of trusted extensions.
When a user tries to download an untrusted extension, the browser warns you to be careful. Google says that nearly three-quarters of the extensions available in the Chrome store will receive Trusted status.
Chrome also got a new feature to scan for suspicious downloads. In the future, users will be able to first download suspicious files to a Google server for a more thorough check; and only then download them to their computer. This feature can be turned off if desired. Google says that the new features will be gradually implemented in Chrome 91, released late last month.

Tech Talks editor Kevin Delsch has written a guideline for Chrome browser users with tips to keep themselves and their personal data safe from unscrupulous extension developers.

According to statcounter.com, Chrome dominates browsers with nearly 60 percent share across all platforms as of June 2018.

In addition to ease of use, download speed and reliability, Google Chrome also has a huge arsenal of extensions that can satisfy almost any, even the most specific need.

Extensions for Chrome are groovy and increase productivity; there’s no need to order custom development of any software solution, because everything you need is already in the Chrome Web Store, right?

Despite their apparent innocuousness, Chrome extensions can get full access to user data in the browser, including the sites they visit, the content they are interested in, everything they enter on those sites, including passwords, etc. Often, it is not actually necessary to have access to all of this information in order to work consistently. It’s up to the user here – if he willingly granted all the permissions that the Chrome plugin requested of him, he’s left to fend for himself.

Although Google scans all Chrome extensions when submitting them to the Chrome Web Store, sometimes malicious plugins do trickle into the store. It’s also possible to install an extension from a third-party site using the so-called inline install API. Fortunately, this loophole is promised to be closed soon, but for now it is still open.

There is one more thing. Chrome extensions can be updated automatically. So, even if you take preventive measures, things can change. For example, a decent developer will sell their extension, and the new owner will decide to add some unreliable elements to it. And this is just one of many possible scenarios. So with Chrome extensions, it’s worth keeping your ears open.

What to check before installing a Chrome extension

Are you sure you need this extension?

It’s a matter of basic digital hygiene. Every feature you add to your system increases its vulnerability. The internet is full of cool stuff, but don’t install it unless you really need it.

Create a second account to test extensions

How do you know if an extension will help increase your productivity without installing it? For many people, this is more important than the rule above. You can get out of it by creating an additional account specifically for checking extensions. By doing so, you will protect the data contained in your main account in case the extension turns out to be unscrupulous.

Never install an extension from outside the Chrome Web Store

Google has already enforced this rule in Chrome for extensions published after June 12, 2018. But if you managed to install any plugins before that date from outside the Chrome Web Store, you’d better tear them down and look for official alternatives in the store.

Google promises to close this feature by September 12: whichever site you click to install an extension, you’ll be automatically redirected to the Chrome Web Store, and that’s a good thing. The inline install API will be completely removed from Chrome 71 in early December. However, creators will still have the option to install their extensions locally for testing by turning on developer mode.

Make sure you’re installing the right extension

Earlier in April, AdGuard, which offers ad-blocking products, published a list of malicious extensions for Chrome, which together compromised more than 20 million users.

Even if you do not know what a plugin is in your computer, you still use at least one add-on. Among their number are useful, unnecessary and even viral, so knowing what they are, where to find them and how to remove them is necessary for every computer user. Let’s consider in detail the issues of interest.

What is a plugin: general information

Software products do not fully meet the needs of users. But it is not rational to create multifunctional applications.

Here’s why:

  • The cost of developing and maintaining such a product will be high, leading to exorbitant prices for ordinary users.
  • The more voluminous the application, the more bugs are hiding in it. It is impossible to test such a program, which affects the stability of operation and the appearance of fatal errors.
  • The large number of buttons and controls makes it difficult for users to work with the application: it’s difficult to find the necessary function or perform an action.

These factors provoked the emergence of extensions.

So, a plugin (extension, add-on) – is a subroutine that extends the basic functionality of the application. The user chooses and installs extensions independently, depending on the purpose and specifics of using the product.

Add-ons for your computer

Programs can be modified. The only difference is the nature of the upgrade. It can be updates, patches, mods and plug-ins. There are many applications on the PC that support extensions. Let’s look at the main categories of software that can be functionally extended.

Text and graphics editors. Products such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc. support the installation of additional options. Typically, these are specialized tools for creating special graphic design or data formatting.
Development environments. To simplify the work of programmers special plug-ins have been created, which significantly simplify and speed up the process of code writing. This feature has Visual Studio, Eclipse, Brackets, clients for WordPress. For example, the Emmet add-on greatly speeds up the process of writing code and minimizes the probability of making syntax errors.
ERP-systems. Everyone has heard of 1C developers. So they are engaged in writing plug-ins (tools) for the general ledger. Moreover, the company itself can order the development of the necessary add-on for immediate needs.
Game lunchers. Extensions in them perform a statistical function, with which gamers find out “who is cooler” and monitor the game progress.

But it is in browsers that plug-ins have gained the most popularity, so let’s see what additional functionality they can offer the average Internet user.

Browser Extensions

This is a real boon for active Internet users. For example, downloading audio and video directly from social networks, implement plugins. Avast! add-ons are designed to monitor the safety of surfing the web and make recommendations on how to access resources. For those who like to shop online, Quicksearch has solutions that help you find and compare prices for identical products in other marketplaces in two clicks. And ad blocker AdBlock can help make your life easier.
